The Highfield Area Zone league, an affiliate of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA), commenced over the weekend at the Zimbabwe Grounds, popularly known as Mazigo.
This iconic venue has a rich history of producing talented footballers, including notable players such as Tapiwa Kapini, Tendai Tanyanyiwa, Tino Kadewere, and Denver Mukamba,Ronald and David Sengu.
The Highfield Area Zone league brings together local teams, providing a platform for players to showcase their skills and compete against each other. And becoming a place to be every weekend.
The league plays a vital role in developing young football talent in the country, with the ultimate goal of identifying and nurturing promising players.
As part of ZIFA’s efforts to promote grassroots football development, the Highfield Area Zone league is crucial in creating a strong foundation for Zimbabwean football.
The opening day of the league saw some exciting matches, with defending champions Bluestone starting their title defense with a convincing 4-0 win over Infinity. Other notable results included:
