The Kadoma Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 28-year-old man to an effective 25 years imprisonment after convicting him of armed robbery and rape stemming from a violent home invasion last year.
The court found that on August 18, 2025, the offender, acting in the company of two accomplices who are still at large, forcibly entered a couple’s home in Masendeke Compound, Battlefields, while armed with a machete. The victim later escaped and reported the matter to the police. The offender was apprehended by members of the public at Chivaura Mine. Items of his clothing were recovered and admitted as evidence during the trial.
He was sentenced to five years imprisonment for robbery and 20 years for rape, resulting in an effective 25-year custodial sentence.
