In a move set to boost the welfare of civil servants, the Zimbabwean government has unveiled a package of financial and non-monetary benefits for public servants including pensioners.

The package provides immediate festive season relief alongside long-term planned support and was announced by the Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Hon. Edgar Moyo,

The public servants will get US$150 courtesy of the President, which will be paid in two instalments of US$75 in November and December 2025. This bonus is separate from their regular annual payments.

Looking ahead, the government has confirmed that a major overhaul of the public sector pay structure, through the Job Evaluation Remuneration Framework, will be implemented in the first quarter of 2026. Furthermore, the popular vehicle rebate scheme for civil servants is being fully restored to its more advantageous 2022 terms, effective from 1 December 2025, rewarding long-serving employees.

Beyond these financial measures, government is advancing long-term welfare initiatives and plans to recapitalize Premier Service Medical Aid Society (PSMAS) sustainable access to quality healthcare. As a key non-monetary incentive, the government is also promoting home ownership through the initial allocation of 26,000 housing stands in Harare and Bulawayo, with further allocations planned nationwide.
